Sliding & Patio Door Locks in Edmond & OKC

A sliding glass door to the patio gets used like a front door, but it doesn't lock like one. Most sliders lock with a latch or hook inside the door that catches a keeper on the frame, not a deadbolt. When that latch wears or stops lining up, the door can close without actually locking. A Better Locksmith is a mobile residential locksmith serving Edmond, Oklahoma City, and Guthrie since 1986. We work on sliding and patio door locks at your home. Call (405) 348-8688. We quote before work begins.

This page is the dedicated landing for patio and sliding door locks. For the full list of home services, see residential locksmith. For front and side doors, see lock installation and deadbolt installation.

Who this page is for

  • Homeowners whose sliding door latch won't catch, won't lock, or takes force to close
  • New owners who want the patio door on the same plan as the front door after a move
  • Anyone who wants an added lock on a slider
  • Owners of hinged patio or French doors that need a working lock

What we work on

  • Latch and lock repair: adjusting or replacing the latch and the keeper it catches, so the door locks when it closes
  • Handle and lock replacement: new handle sets with the lock built in, including keyed handles where the door allows
  • Added sliding door locks: auxiliary locks that pin or block the door, mounted to fit your door and frame
  • Keying to match: when a patio handle has a key cylinder, we can often rekey it to match your other exterior doors. See rekeying locks.
  • Hinged patio and French doors: lock repair, lock replacement, and deadbolt work when the door is prepared for one

Sliding door hardware varies by door maker and age. We look at the door first and tell you what fits. If the real problem is the rollers, the track, the glass, or the frame rather than the lock, we'll tell you when we see it.

Sliding door or hinged patio door?

A sliding door moves along a track and usually locks with a hook or latch that catches a keeper on the frame. A hinged patio door swings like a front door and can take a knob, lever, or deadbolt. The fix depends on which one you have, so tell us when you call. For hinged doors, the same options on lock installation and lock repair apply.

After a move or a lost key

When you rekey after moving, count every exterior door. If the last owner's key opens the front door, it may open a keyed patio handle too. If a key went missing while you already live there, see rekey after stolen or shared keys. Not sure whether to rekey or replace a lock? Read rekey vs replace.

How a patio door lock call works

  1. Call (405) 348-8688. Say it's a sliding or patio door lock, and tell us the city and what the door is doing: won't latch, won't lock, lost key, or you want an added lock.
  2. Confirm you're the owner or have the owner's OK. We authorize before changing any lock.
  3. We quote before work begins.
  4. A technician comes to your home (service-area business, no storefront). Work finishes on-site when the door and hardware allow it.

We confirm availability when you call. We do not publish arrival times.

Sliding & Patio Door Lock FAQs

Do you work on sliding glass door locks?

Yes. We repair and replace sliding door latches and handle sets, and we add auxiliary locks, at homes in Edmond, Oklahoma City, and Guthrie. Call (405) 348-8688.

My sliding door closes but won't lock. Can it be fixed?

Often, yes. The latch may only need adjusting to meet the keeper on the frame. If the latch is worn or broken, we'll quote a replacement.

Can a patio door handle be keyed to match my front door?

Often, if the handle has a key cylinder that can be rekeyed. We check the hardware on-site. See rekeying locks.

Can you add an extra lock to a sliding door?

Yes. We can mount an auxiliary lock that pins or blocks the door, chosen to fit your door and frame.

Do you fix sliding door rollers, tracks, or glass?

Our work is the lock and latch. If the trouble is the rollers, track, or glass, tell us when you call, and we'll tell you whether it's a job for us.

Do you publish arrival times or prices on this page?

No. Call (405) 348-8688 for availability and a quote for your job.
