HOA & Apartment Community Locksmith in Edmond & OKC

Homeowners associations, condo boards, and apartment communities are responsible for more than individual units. Clubhouses, amenity rooms, offices, storage and maintenance rooms, and other shared doors all need locks that work, keys the community can track, and a locksmith who knows who is allowed to approve the work. A Better Locksmith is a fully mobile locksmith serving Edmond, Oklahoma City, and Guthrie since 1986. Call (405) 348-8688. We quote before work begins.

Turning over a single unit or replacing a tenant's lost keys? That work is on our property manager locksmith page. This page is for work done on behalf of the whole community. For the commercial hub, see commercial locksmith.

Who this page is for

  • HOA boards and the management companies that act for them
  • Condo associations responsible for shared entries, corridors, and building doors
  • Apartment communities with clubhouse, leasing office, amenity, and maintenance doors on top of their units
  • Multi-building properties that want one consistent key plan instead of a different setup at every building

Authorization comes first. We work with the board-designated contact or the management company that has authority over the community's doors. Club and HOA doors are not opened for an unverified caller. Have the name of the person who can approve the work when you call.

What we install and service

  • Shared and amenity doors: locks and hardware on clubhouse, amenity, office, storage, and maintenance doors when authorization is clear
  • Community key plans: a master key system that gives staff and approved vendors the shared doors they need, with resident keys kept separate
  • Rekeying shared doors: when a board member, manager, staff member, or vendor leaves, or a shared key goes missing, we rekey the affected doors so the rest of the plan keeps working (commercial rekey)
  • Commercial-grade hardware on high-use doors: commercial locks, closers and related commercial hardware, and panic bars on egress doors in clubhouses and common buildings
  • Electronic entry on shared doors: keypads or cards where codes are easier to manage than handing out metal keys (commercial access control)
  • Removable cores: interchangeable core setups for communities that change keys on shared doors often

Tell us which doors and what hardware is on them, and we'll tell you what we can do on-site.

When a community page beats the property manager page

Property manager locksmith covers unit work: turnover rekeys, lost tenant keys, and keeping a unit inside the building master. This page covers the community's own doors and keys, the shared spaces the board or community office is responsible for.

Use the property manager page for a unit. Use this page for the clubhouse, the amenity doors, the office, the maintenance rooms, or a key plan for the whole property.

Keeping shared keys under control

Shared doors are where key control tends to drift, as keys pass between board terms, managers, staff, and vendors. A planned system helps:

  • Keys for shared doors are separate from unit keys, so a resident key never opens a maintenance room
  • Staff and vendor keys open only their own group of doors
  • The keying chart is documented, so the next manager or board can see who holds what
  • When one key is lost, only the affected doors are rekeyed instead of every lock on the property

Communities with several buildings or a management company running more than one property can set up a single point of contact through our corporate account program.

How a community call works

  1. Call (405) 348-8688. Say you're calling for an HOA, a condo association, or an apartment community, and tell us the city, which shared doors are involved, and whether a master key system already exists.
  2. Confirm who can authorize the work: the board-designated contact or the management company. We confirm authorization before opening or changing hardware.
  3. We quote before work begins.
  4. A technician comes to the property. A Better Locksmith is a service-area business with no storefront. Work is finished on-site when the doors and hardware allow it.

We confirm availability when you call. We do not publish arrival times.

HOA & Community Locksmith FAQs

Do you work directly with HOA and condo boards?

Yes. We work with the board-designated contact or the management company that acts for the association. Have that person's name when you call (405) 348-8688.

Is this the same as your property manager page?

No. Property managers covers unit turnover rekeys and lost tenant keys. This page covers the community's shared doors and key plan.

Can you keep resident keys separate from staff and vendor keys?

Yes, with a planned master key system. Shared doors and staff keys sit in their own groups, and units keep their own change keys.

A shared-door key went missing. What do we do?

Call us to rekey the affected shared doors. With a documented key plan, only those doors need to change.

Can a resident call you for their own home?

Yes. Residents can book work on their own home through residential. Shared and community doors need approval from the board or management.

Do you publish prices?

No. We quote before work for your property.
